The diverse arts and crafts have taken over the town of Brioude until Sunday, September 29. Material, know-how, gesture, talent… combine to create wonders.

"The knife blade is made of meteorite rust transformed back into metal; we make a metal puff pastry and the patterns are drawn with hammer blows." In one of the rooms of the former nursery shared by five craftsmen, Emmanuel Verdier holds the Tanto "Tenchi" (Earth-Sky), a magnificent piece, with a certificate of authenticity, which he has installed in a prominent place among other creations born of his know-how in his workshop in Pouilly-les-Feurs, in the Loire. This blacksmith, as he indicates on his business card, is one of the forty craftsmen who, until Sunday, September 29, are hosting the first Biennale des métiers d'art de Brioude.

Like its big sister, the Watercolor Biennale, it showcased all these talents in various locations in Brioude, the first city in Haute-Loire to be awarded the “Watercolor Biennale” label. City and crafts » in January 2022. Equipped with a map, available in the programs available free of charge in the exhibition rooms and at the tourist office, the visitor gives free rein to his journey. And to his thirst for discovery which will lead him to meet the artists, whether they work wood, create jewelry, sculpt paper, restore their original form to books, cross spindles, cut iron, shape clay or porcelain paste, transform wool, magnify glass into stained glass or jewelry, restore painted heritage, embellish furniture…

Organized by Brioude Sud Auvergne Tourist, Trade and Crafts Office With the support of several partners, the Biennale des métiers d'art also offers a whole range of activities including conferences, courses, workshops, demonstrations and a concert on Friday at 20pm at the Halle aux grains, a unique show where two ancestral arts come together: music and weaving (entrance: €5). Another highlight of the Biennale: the group exhibition of “exceptional works” at the Chapelle de la Visitation (free). As evidenced in the guestbook: “What a wonderful surprise… when you walk through the door of the Chapelle de la Visitation! The Wahoooo effect! It’s a wonder: the beauty of the works, the enhancement with the carefully crafted lighting, the diversity of the objects… A great success! I’m still under its spell…”
