Castral and Medieval Site in the Allier Valley

Any traveler who leaves for the Val d'Allier can only be amazed by the site of Saint-Ilpize. This site is visible long before arriving thanks to its magnificent castle which rises above the valley.

This castle is the sentinel of the valley. Perched on a volcanic peak, the remains of the fortress belonged to the Dauphins d'Auvergne and you can appreciate the fortified walls overlooking the village.

Saint madeleine church

The church is located within the walls of the upper town. It was built in the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries, probably on the site of the first Romanesque sanctuary. Inside you can admire beautiful murals. It is classified as a Historic Monument

This bridge dates from the XNUMXth century. It replaces the ferry deemed dangerous during floods to cross the Allier river.
