Located 5 km south of Brioude, Vieille-Brioude sits atop a rocky spur, offering breathtaking views over the Allier valley and the confluence with the Céroux river. A village steeped in history and authenticity, it's ideal for exploring nature and heritage.

All year round, every day.

Discover Vieille-Brioude, a charming village in Auvergne where heritage and nature blend harmoniously.
Let yourself be seduced by its emblematic monuments: the Romanesque church, the majestic Devil's Bridge and the Vine Garden Museum, true treasures of the town.
The village was built over 1000 years ago on the site of a vanished castle that once stood on a mound in the heart of the village. It has always been distinguished by its bridge, reinforced in the 19th century, the last crossing over the Allier River (this bridge marks the exit from the Allier Gorges); King Lothair and his son, the future Louis V, stayed there for the latter's wedding.
The 15 surrounding villages or localities, all located in a classified area, bring a more rural touch, the whole being a veritable nest of greenery, suitable for the flourishing of a very rich fauna.
Very beautiful bucolic hikes, are to be done on foot or by bike, along the rivers in the wooded areas.
