The former abbey of Lavaudieu includes an important private part acquired by the same family present in Lavaudieu since at least the XNUMXth century:
- The abbey dwelling
- Part of the cloister
- The adjoining Abbess Gardens, suspended above the Senouire River
This family maintained close relations with the nuns: the Lazinier ancestors were their bailiff, police lieutenant, judge, notary, doctor... After the disappearance of the community, Jean-Antoine Lazinier, doctor to the last abbess, wanted to buy back most of the abbey. Subsequently, the family was particularly concerned about the survival of the Romanesque cloister.
Today, Béatrice and her husband Joël have taken over the family property which they maintain, restore, enhance and remain there.
The old abbey house with foundations from the XNUMXth century has evolved over time and is rich in its inlaid parquet floors, woodwork and French ceilings from the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries.
The western part of the cloister when you visit it, is open to the public free of all rights.
The entire private part is classified as a "Historic Monument".
